Monday:
First thing, please hand in your signed syllabus contract forms and then we will get started. We have an exciting day planned as it is our first day dealing with Mechanics. Any guesses on what the first thing we will learn in shop, you guessed it, Shop Safety. You can never be too safe in the shop and must learn how to conduct yourselves in a proper manner to maintain a safe working environment for all.
The first thing you will need to do is download the following documents:
After you have downloaded both files I need you to save them in your Info and Notes folder that you have created.
Daily Openers! In this class we will do daily openers. It is a simple exercise that consists of learning about a new tool and learning a fun Ag Fact. We will create a Keynote presentation together for you to use as your daily opener. You have already downloaded and saved the document 'Ag Mechanics Tool ID Manual' in your folders. You will use that document the most with your daily openers. Then, when it comes time for tool ID Testing, you will have an awesome study guide.
Your activity today you will need to team up with one partner. You and your partner need to read over and review all the guidelines from "50 Rules for Shop" and create a Top Five List to share with the class. You will put your list on one slide of a Google Preso and share your conclusions with the class. We will learn how to use a Google Preso together.
After we are finished, your independent assignment is to rewrite all 50 Rules in the negative. Try to make each rule ten words or less. You can do this in Pages (or on paper) and have it ready to show me at the beginning of the next class period. (Hint: Any rule already under ten words does not have to be revised, only reworded). Title your document '50 Rules Revised.'

Your Fun Ag Fact is:
Popcorn pops because water is stored in a small circle of soft starch in each kernel. As the kernel is heated, the water turns to steam, builds up pressure, and finally explodes the kernel.
Today we are going to continue learning about safety by doing several things. We will quickly share and discuss the rules together by reading them out loud. Be prepared, Friday we will be taking the first safety test.
Then each of you are going to create a safety poster about ten of the rules for shop. We will learn Pages together for those of you with iPads. You will be using an 11x17 inch poster template in Pages for this assignment. We will set up the project together for those of you new to using Pages.
Instructions:
Your poster needs to have a condensed version of the Top Ten Shop Rules
It will need to contain a background and/or images about a rule or rules
Your name and period needs to be on the bottom right corner
Homework:
For your homework, meaning this is due Friday at the beginning of class, you will need to rewrite all fifty rules. There are two steps you will need to follow in doing so.
-Write each rule so that it is ten words or less.

Today we are going to jump right into the General Safety Test. Now remember, it is practice. So, don't freak out. Just do your best. If you have never used ThatQuiz before it is really easy. Just click on the tab in the center of the ThatQuiz screen, find your name and begin the test. You can go back and change your answers if you need to at any time.
When you are done: take a screenshot of your test results.You will need to write out the questions and correct answers 5x each before you take the test again. So, do not close out your scoring guide until after you take a screenshot of it. I will go over the test with you after everyone is complete.
